Pablo Zabaleta made it very clear that he will 100 per cent be leaving West Ham this summer, when speaking exclusively to Argentinian radio station Radio Continental.

It is common knowledge that the experienced South American was set to leave the Hammers this summer.

But now we’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth.

Zabaleta joined West Ham on a free transfer in the summer of 2017. The South American has gone on to rack up 79 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

The 35-year-old has been a consistent performer for West Ham. But his powers have clearly begun to wane over the past 12 months.

Highly respected professional

The Argentine has enjoyed a successful, highly decorated, career in the English game, however. And he will always be respected for the effort and professionalism he has shown during his time at the London Stadium.

David Moyes will miss Zabaleta’s experience in the dressing room, that’s for sure.

The Argentinian ace told Radio Continental that he is clear in his mind that he will be leaving West Ham. And he suggested that he wants to live in Barcelona with his family:

“I am quite clear that I am leaving England when my contract with West Ham ends. Then I will make a decision personally and professionally, now it is difficult because we do not know what will happen to football. I will sit down with my family and we will make a decision. I want to live with my family in Barcelona. Now I am at that stage when you have days that you think about going on for a couple of years or that a guy in training ruins you and you think about leaving.”

West Ham could have somewhat of a problem on their hands in the right-back position now.

Zabaleta has confirmed that he will be leaving.

Meanwhile, Claret and Hugh have claimed that talented youngster Jeremy Ngakia could walk away for nothing at the end of June.

Ryan Fredericks is another option for David Moyes, but he is incredibly injury prone, and really hasn’t impressed since joining the club in 2018.

So West Ham might just have to prioritise the signing of a new right-back this summer.
