Outlandish West Ham target Kalidou Koulibaly will reject Tottenham and Everton approach - report

West Ham United may have no hope of landing reported target Kalidou Koulibaly but it seems neither do bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton.

The giant defender nicknamed K2 has been linked with Tottenham and Everton this week (Daily Star).

But he was first linked with a big money move away from Napoli in January, to West Ham.

The Hammers were said to be lining up a shock £70m move four months ago.

Biggest STAR Your Club Are Trying To SIGN This Month

In January the Daily Express and Football Italia carried ‘world exclusive’ reports that West Ham were serious about launching an audacious bid for Senegal star Koulibaly.

West Ham first to be linked with big money Koulibaly move

As expected the speculation proved unfounded. And West Ham signed Tomas Soucek, Darren Randolph and Jarrod Bowen instead.

Considered one of the top three defenders in world football, West Ham merely being linked with Koulibaly was outlandish.

And that was before the obvious financial implications of the global health crisis.

But reports emerged earlier this week that Everton and Tottenham had also registered an interest. Newcastle United are also being linked should their Saudi takeover go ahead.

Everton have wealthy backers and are looking to reach the fabled next level under Ancelotti, who managed Koulibaly in Naples.

West Ham fans would not have expected to come close to pulling off such a signing. But seeing bitter rivals Spurs get Koulibaly would have stung.

Tottenham or Everton move would have stung for Hammers fans

Even seeing a club of similar stature like Everton get their hands on him would have hurt ambitious West Ham fans.

But a new report from Italy claims both Tottenham and Everton have little chance of pulling it off either.

Calciomercato.com claims Koulibaly will only be ready to leave Napoli for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

And that, the report claims, gives Tottenham and Everton no chance regardless of the fact they have two of the most successful managers of the last two decades in charge.

Calciomercato.com says only Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are realistic suitors.

Moyes living in the real world

West Ham supporters never truly believed they were in the race.

But the report states that ‘neither Tottenham or Everton are possible suitors to tempt the player to move this summer due to his giant ambitions’.

Central defenders Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid look set to depart West Ham this summer.

So the Hammers will need reinforcements. But David Moyes is experienced and he will certainly not waste time chasing fanciful lost causes like Koulibaly.

He will leave that to Everton and Tottenham.

Moyes is instead focused on building a young, hungry, energetic West Ham team by luring top talent from the lower leagues (whufc.com).
