Our View: West Ham should cut their losses on Manuel Lanzini

Manuel Lanzini was a breath of fresh air when he joined West Ham on loan for the 2015/16 campaign.

The 26-year-old then made his move to the Hammers a permanent one the following summer for around £9 million, according to the Daily Mail.

The Argentine immediately established himself as a firm fan favourite at West Ham.

He enjoyed an impressive first couple of seasons in east London. But he has fallen drastically off the boil over the past 18 months.

Lanzini seems to be a shadow of his former self. And more worryingly, his work ethic hasn’t been anywhere good enough. In fact, he just seems to be totally disinterested at the moment.

West Ham should sell while Lanzini is still a sought-after commodity

The 26-year-old play-maker will still be worth a substantial amount in the current market.

Liverpool wanted Lanzini last year, according to the Mirror.

The British newspaper also claims that the Hammers value the South American at around £30 million.

And if any club is prepared to pay that kind of fee for Lanzini, West Ham should not hesitate to sell.

The Hammers have plenty of attack-minded, creative players. We desperately need to strengthen in defence, attack and central midfield.

So that kind of money for Lanzini could come in very useful.

West Ham need to totally change the way they play. There are too many players who quite simply haven’t been fit to wear the shirt over the past two or three months. And Lanzini is certainly one of them.

Hammers fans have been absolutely fuming with his displays of late. The once popular Argentine has been receiving pelters from the West ham faithful.

Now could be the right time to move him on. And who would have thought that would even have been a suggestion 18 months ago?
