Tomas Soucek joined West Ham on loan from Slavia Prague in January.
The Hammers paid a £3.5 million loan fee for the 25-year-old, and could make the signing a permanent one in the summer for a further £13.5 million, according to the Guardian.
But with the recent coronavirus pandemic, all of that has been thrown into doubt.
Potential Covid-19 conundrum for West Ham regarding Soucek?
Claret and Hugh claims that the Hammers WILL permanently sign the Czech Republic ace in the summer if they avoid relegation this season.
C&H also claim that with the Premier League having been thrown into uncertainty because of Covid-19, there are now doubts whether or not the deal will go through.
Soucek has really impressed for West Ham since making his January switch to the London Stadium.
In four Premier League games, the 25-year-old has racked up eight tackles, eight interceptions, 12 clearances and 10 ball recoveries. He has also won 23 individual duals and 13 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
The Czech’s athleticism, energy and determination has added so much to the way in which the Hammers play.
Signing him permanently will be crucial for West Ham, as they look to make progress next season.
But it seems as though it could be out of the their hands with Covid-19 continuing to disrupt not only sport but everyday life in general.
