West Ham were linked with a big-money move for Bournemouth hitman Callum Wilson in the summer.
They eventually signed Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt, however, for £45 million (BBC), after baulking at the 27-year-old Bournemouth striker’s asking price.
The Evening Standard claimed in the summer that Cherries boss Eddie Howe values Wilson at around £60 million.
The England international racked up 15 goals and 10 assists for Bournemouth last season, and in the summer, many Hammers fans were pleading with the board to just pay whatever the south coast outfit were demanding for the striker.
Wilson’s form has nose-dived this season, however. He has scored just five goals in 22 Premier league games, with just one assist to his name during that period.
The Bournemouth man has failed to score in his last 15 games. Ironically, his last goal for the club came against West Ham in September.

And considering his poor form this season, the Hammers owners have been vindicated for their decision not to spend £60 million on Wilson last summer.
They have been proved right for a change. A very rare occasion indeed.
That isn’t to say that West Ham still don’t need to sign a top class striker, because they clearly do.
But for once, David Sullivan and David Gold made the right call in not sanctioning a £60 million move for Wilson six months ago.
Who knows, the Bournemouth hitman may very well find his form again before the end of the season. But his value will certainly not be anywhere near the reported fee of £60 million if he is once again linked with an exit this summer.
