Opinion: £12.75 million Filip Kostic signing would be unreal transfer business from West Ham

West Ham signing Filip Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt for just £12.75 million would be truly sensational business for the club.

The Hammers are currently in talks to sign the 29-year-old ace for around €15 million (£12.75 million) according to a report from Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

West Ham manager David Moyes has been linked with a move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt ace Kostic since the January transfer window.

The 48-capped Serbia international is a truly superb player and he showed just how good he is when West Ham went head to head with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals at the end of last season.

A converted winger, Kostic now mostly operates as a left wing-back, although he can still be used as an attacking player.

And it seems as though that kind of versatility has really appealed to David Moyes…

West Ham in talks to sign Kostic for bargain fee

Florian Plettenberg reckons the Hammers could sign the Serbian for just £12.75 million this summer.

That would be unreal business for the East London outfit.

Yes, we know he will be 30 in November and doesn’t necessarily fit into the so-called young and hungry category of player who Moyes has repeatedly insisted that he wants to sign.

Usually, we wouldn’t advocate the idea of Moyes bringing in players over 26 from leagues outside of England.

The ferocious nature and intense tempo of Premier League football means that it is sometimes hard for players from abroad to adjust to life in England.

Kostic is an exception to the rule though.

The 29-year-old is incredibly fit and has plenty of years left ahead of him. We believe that Kostic would be a fine addition to Moyes’s ranks at West Ham this summer.

He is old fashioned in the sense that he’s left-footed and plays on the left! As a result, Kostic is much more of a provider than a goalscorer.

The Serbian bagged 15 assists and seven goals in 43 games for Eintracht Frankfurt last season (Transfermarkt). That’s a healthy return by anyone’s standards.

On face value, he has everything that West Ham boss David Moyes looks for in potential new signings, aside from the fact that he is 29 of course!

We don’t believe that will be an issue for the Serb though.

And if West Ham manage to sign Filip Kostic for just £12.75 million this summer, we would have had a real result.
