West Ham have been in dipping form as of late, and many suspect it’s due to the absence of loanee Andy Carroll and Mohammed Diame, whom are both sidelined subject to injury.
Hammer’s captain, Kevin Nolan formed a bond with target man Carroll when the two played at Newcastle United. Thus, the two perform exceptionally together.
Carroll, who is on loan from Liverpool was in good form for West Ham, despite scoring only one goal prior to his injury.
Carroll, whom is expected to make his comeback soon, has been the subject of much abuse from opposing fans after his £35 million move to Liverpool turned to be a mistake as he didn’t really feature in the Liverpool style.
At West Ham however, the striker has been integral in manager Sam Allardyce’s plans as the Englishman is a top target man, and a dominant force in the air.
Carroll has been great for West Ham, defending when needed and assisting other players in order for the team to gain success. However, and unfortunately, for the Hammer’s he hasn’t been in great goal scoring form.
West Ham fan, Lucy Woolford stated ” Even if he [Andy Carroll] doesn’t score many goals for us [West Ham] he’s a great asset. Physically strong and a great team player.” she then went on to say how well he plays with Kevin Nolan, who hasn’t celebrated with the famous chicken dance as of late.
Carlton Cole has reportedly been told he can leave the club, as the January transfer window welcomes two loanee strikers in Marouane Chamakh and Wellington Paulista.
Many would welcome the permanent signing of Andy Carroll, however, not the hefty wage and large sum of money that would be needed to purchase him. Because of this reason, many would oppose the signing of the England striker.
The only strikers that are actually West Ham players are limited, and a certain French striker still hasn’t left the club to the misery of the Hammers faithful.
Andy Carroll has proved essential in the West Ham side this year, and this has been portrayed by the club’s standing when he was fit, and to it now, as he sits out injured. Hammers fan James Wallis also commented on Andy Carroll, ” Injuries have hampered him and we haven’t seen the best from him, but he is essential to the team, and when he is back from injury he has got to start scoring goals as soon as possible.”
The debate over Carroll continues, but the dominance and power of his game is instrumental in the Hammer’s chances of success in the league this season, and that cannot be denied.
