Nuno Espirito Santo has issued a transfer update as West Ham reportedly close on a third signing in a fresh round of talks for a midfield star.

Don’t pinch yourselves West Ham fans, you are not dreaming – the team did finally win a football match.

The Hammers now have a week to enjoy the 2-1 win over QPR which saw the club advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

It was West Ham’s first win for 11 matches and came thanks to two long-awaited moments of magic from Crysencio Summerville.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping the victory will give his side confidence and belief to try and pull off the greatest of great escapes in the final 17 games of the Premier League season.

The Hammers boss will want to foster the feel-good factor of a hard fought win and use it to build some momentum.

West Ham go to bitter rivals Spurs on Saturday with Thomas Frank under enormous pressure.

How much confidence does the win over QPR give you heading into Spurs? 👀

Oh, how sweet it would be to start to turn things around against them 😍

Tottenham beat the Irons 3-0 in the reverse fixture but have endured a rocky season under their new boss, especially at home.

Nuno will want to take advantage against the club he briefly managed and breathe new life into West Ham’s survival bid.

If results go West Ham’s way and the team pulls off a win over Spurs, the deficit could be cut to just four points.

That would give the Hammers a huge incentive with Sunderland at home up next after that.

Nuno is still hoping to bring in extra help from outside too.

West Ham started the window by spending £47m on two new strikers for Nuno.

One of them, Taty Castellanos, got his first goal for the club as he scored the winner against QPR in the FA Cup with a powerful header from Summerville’s cross.

The Argentine worked tirelessly all game alongside fellow new recruit Pablo.

Now the manager is hoping for further additions to make a similar impact – and one may not be far away.

Are midfield signings needed?

Nuno has issued a transfer update as West Ham close on a third signing in fresh talks.

“They (Pablo and Taty) bring us more options,” Nuno told West Ham’s website.

“We are trying to rebalance the squad.

“We still need bodies, but (the QPR win) was a very important day for us.”

In a bid to rebalance the squad, Nuno may need to accelerate plans to sign a new centre-back after a worrying neck injury to Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The manager described the big Greek’s injury as a ‘nasty one’ which had left him in ‘a lot of pain’ and will need a few days before it can be properly assessed.

The Hammers have been linked with the likes of Charlie Cresswell and others at centre-back.

But it seems a midfielder may be next in the door if reports overnight are to be believed.

With Guido Rodriguez and Lucas Paqueta being linked with moves away, West Ham have reportedly been looking at midfielders as well as defenders.

Hammers launch second bid to sign Alpha male Toure

Now the Hammers appear to be closing in on the signing of Metz star Alpha Toure after new talks.

L’Équipe claims West Ham have made a new approach for top young talent Toure after seeing an opening bid of around £5m rejected last week.

The 19-year-old Senegalese star has featured in all of Metz’s Ligue 1 games this season and the report claims West Ham are pushing to get a deal wrapped up with a more meaningful second offer.

One of the most interesting factors about the move for Toure is his versatility.

The defensive midfielder is also capable of playing centre-back, where the Hammers are now desperately short of options.

Renowned for his athleticism, pace and power, Toure would be a wise investment and could be a difference maker for the Hammers if he hits the ground running.
