Now West Ham look set to miss out on prime striker target Viktor Gyokeres as Fabrizio Romano delivers crushing news.
As West Ham’s Premier League rivals make statement signings, the club seems to be stuck in the mud waiting on the Declan Rice money.
And it could be costing West Ham dear in the summer transfer window.
The likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, Man United, Aston Villa, Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea have all made numerous and big signings.
In fact West Ham, Everton, Fulham and Sheffield United are the only Premier League clubs yet to sign a player this summer.
David Moyes has publicly stated several times in the past that he ideally wants players in to do a full pre-season with the club.

Now West Ham look set to miss out on prime striker target Viktor Gyokeres as Fabrizio Romano delivers crushing news
And the Hammers returned to pre-season training TODAY (Thursday).
Harvey Barnes was said to be one of West Ham’s top targets and the Hammers were reported to have been leading the race for the relegated Leicester star.
But there was terrible news for West Ham’s hopes of signing Barnes overnight as the club dithers.
Now West Ham look set to miss out on prime striker target Viktor Gyokeres as Fabrizio Romano delivers crushing news.
Earlier this week it was reported that West Ham’s main rivals in their alleged attempts to sign Coventry City striker Gyokeres – Sporting – were out of the race.

‘Gyokeres really close to joining Sporting’ says Romano
But now Romano says Sporting have managed to get a deal done with Coventry and could complete the signing of Gyokeres today (Thursday).
“Understand Sporting are finally closer to signing Viktor Gyökeres after late night negotiations,” Romano said.
“Coventry asked for €24m (£20m) including add ons in final meeting, Sporting expected to decide soon. Green light could be on Thursday. Gyökeres, really close now.”

Latest blow to West Ham’s alleged summer transfer plans
This is another major blow to West Ham’s alleged transfer plans.
It has been claimed extensively by various journalists quoting people inside the club that Barnes and Gyokeres were two of West Ham’s top targets.
So if the Hammers miss out on both it will be a devastating blow – especially in the wake of losing Rice.
With two defensive midfielders, an attacking midfielder, a striker and a centre-back needed as a bare minimum West Ham have lots of work to do.
They now have less than two months to do it.
