Forget more more, more problems, it’s a case of no money no problem for West Ham as Tim Steidten uses his savvy to land a top star.
Fans have been bemoaning West Ham’s reported £51.5m transfer budget this week.
A club insider revealed the paltry amount, sparking anger among supporters.
Fans have been asking where the money has gone and they got a detailed answer from the source.
Any money raised from player sales will supplement West Ham’s budget.
But moving on deadwood for reasonable fees is easier said than done.
With six or seven signings to make for Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham rebuild, Tim Steidten is clearly up against it with that budget.
There’s an old saying more money, more problems.
For Steidten, though, it’s a case of no money no problem it seems.
Because the West Ham technical director has used his savvy to land a top star for West Ham.
The Hammers are on the hunt for players in multiple positions including right-back.
Way back in December Hammers News revealed West Ham may not have to part with a single penny to sign one of the best right-backs in the country.
No money no problem for Steidten at West Ham
The Hammers looked set to sign Kyle Walker-Peters when Southampton were relegated last summer.
The move never happened, though.
Walker-Peters was in the Championship team of the season as he helped Saints back to the Premier League.
The jet-heeled 27-year-old crucially ticks the homegrown player box while also being the kind of versatile player West Ham are looking for.
The chance for West Ham to sign Walker-Peters looked to have been and gone.
But now Steidten is using Southampton’s move for Flynn Downes to seal a deal for the right-back.
Lopetegui gave the green light to selling Downes last weekend.
Since then it seems Steidten has been using that deal to negotiate Walker-Peters coming in the other direction.

Hammers man uses savvy to land top star Walker-Peters
And better still the player has already said ‘yes’ to a move to the London Stadium.
It is being reported the Hammers and Saints are in advanced talks for Walker-Peters to go in the opposite direction as part of the deal taking Downes to the south coast.
Walker-Peters has two caps for England and key to West Ham’s interest is that he can play comfortably on both flanks.
“He (Walker-Peters) has one season left on his contract with Southampton, who would likely also pay a fee for Downes if Walker-Peters were to move to West Ham,” The Times claims.
“The deals, however, may be structured separately.”
Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has also provided his own update.
Versatile right-back has already agreed to move
And he says Walker-Peters has already agreed to join West Ham.
“Negotiations underway between West Ham and Southampton for Kyle Walker-Peters and Flynn Downes.
“Swap deal being discussed and concrete possibility, as @ExWHUEmployee called.
“Kyle Walker-Peters already said yes to West Ham, still work to do between clubs.”
This is such a clever use of the Downes deal from West Ham.
Walker-Peters is genuinely one of the best all round full-backs in England.
He was an ever-present for Southampton last season, can play right-back, right wingback, left-back and left wingback. The former Spurs star can even play as an emergency winger.
The energetic star averaged over 7/10 for the Saints in the Championship last season, winning man of the match on three occasions.
That made him the 13th best all-round player in the entire Championship last season – not bad for a right-back.
Walker-Peters should still have some of his best years ahead of him.
And while some Hammers fans did want to keep Downes, it’s clear his game time would be limited at his boyhood club.
Especially with Lopetegui eyeing a new central midfielder signing too.
