West Ham are reportedly in pursuit of former Chelsea and Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante in the January transfer window.
The Hammers have already made two signings this month, but are keen on bringing in a few more players before the window closes.
N’Golo Kante has been linked with West Ham…😍
How can Nuno get the best out of him?
Nuno Espirito Santo is under pressure at West Ham, but the board appear to be backing him in the transfer market despite his side being seven points adrift of safety.
West Ham face competition to sign N’Golo Kante
According to Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs, the Hammers have made an enquiry in the last 48 hours for the Champions League-winning midfielder.
However, the Hammers are not the only club keen on signing the 65-cap France international.
It is understood that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are the frontrunners for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
With these players out or doutbful, who needs to step up against Tottenham?!
Fenerbahce are confident that they have reached an agreement with the 34-year-old, but they still have work to do with Al-Ittihad over the final fee.
Kante’s deal at the Saudi Pro League club runs out at the end of the season, so it remains to be seen at what price he leaves in January.
Jacobs said: “Kante wants the move. Fenerbahce are the frontrunners, even though I’m told West Ham also made another enquiry in the last 48 hours, but Fenerbahce are leading the race.
“They’re confident that they’ve got the buy-in from the player, but they’ve still got some work to do with Al Ittihad.”

Will Kante fancy a return to the Premier League?
At 34, Kante has achieved it all in his career.
He has won the World Cup, Champions League and the Premier League, and has nothing left to prove to anyone.
Given where he is in his career, he would want his last few seasons to be in a league that does not push him to his absolute limit.
Despite the illustrious career he has had, he is no longer at his peak and may even struggle to deal with the pace of England’s top flight.
The Turkish league would be an ideal fit for him, as he could be one of the best players there and end his career on a high.
It is unlikely that he would fancy a relegation battle with West Ham when he can compete for silverware elsewhere.
