Newcastle United could make as much as £12 million this summer if West Ham United end up signing Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong in the summer.

That’s according to the Chronicle who claim that the Magpies included a 40% sell-on clause when they sold the 23-year-old to Blackburn in the summer of 2018.

Armstrong is a key player at Ewood Park and Blackburn Rovers chief executive Steve Waggott suggested that it will take an offer in the region of £30 million to tempt them into selling the striker (Lancs Live).

West Ham are keen to sign the former Newcastle hitman in the summer, according to a report from the Sun.

The Sun reckon that Armstrong is valued at around £10 million. That’s because his contract expires in the summer of 2022, however.

Newcastle to cash in if Adam Armstrong is sold

If Blackburn manage to get the 23-year-old to sign a new deal, he will clearly be worth closer to the £30 million that Steve Waggott suggested it will take to prise him away from the Lancashire outfit.

So with Newcastle’s alleged sell-on clause, the Toon could make as much as £12 million if West Ham do end up signing Armstrong in the summer.

If Blackburn sell the striker for £20 million, the Magpies would make £8 million and if Armstrong is picked up for just £10 million, the Tyneside outfit would make £4 million.

Blackburn will clearly try to tie the 23-year-old down to a new deal as soon as possible. With the 40% sell-on clause, Rovers have to sell him for the absolute maximum amount, otherwise they will hardly make anything from the deal.

The former Newcastle ace has been in superb form this season with 18 goals to his name. Whether West Ham will be prepared to pay anywhere near £30 million for his services in the summer, however, remains to be seen.

The Magpies will undoubtedly be hoping that David Sullivan loosens the purse-strings in the summer, that’s for sure!
