New West Ham Rafa Benitez link emerges as insider has his say on David Moyes sack claims

Speculation on social media is linking West Ham United with a new move for Rafa Benitez.

West Ham sacked Manuel Pellegrini at the end of December and controversially replaced him with David Moyes.

The Scot’s return to East London was not popular with Hammers fans.

But owners David Sullivan and David Gold looked to have been vindicated when Moyes oversaw a 4-0 victory over Bournemouth in his first game.

West Ham have failed to win a single league game since in six attempts.

The club has dropped into the relegation zone as a result. And they look likely to remain there for some time with back-to-back away games against Manchester City and Liverpool up next either side of the inaugural winter break.

Moyes out, Benitez in? New claim emerges

Many fans have called on the club to act before it is too late by moving to replace Moyes after just over a month in charge.

And a new claim emerged on social media on Tuesday night that Moyes could be sacked and replaced by former Hammers managerial target Rafa Benitez (Sky Sports).

Twitter account Indykalia News, which describes itself as the ‘home of breaking football news and transfer updates using respected sources’, told its 300,000 followers that Moyes was in danger of being sacked.

That was followed by another claim that Benitez could leave China – where he currently manages Dalian Yifang – and that he would be ‘very keen on the West Ham job’.

‘We understand he would be very keen on the West Ham job’

“David Moyes in danger of getting sacked!” IndyKalia News claimed on Twitter.

“Exclusive: According to various sources, Rafael Benítez’s family want him to return from China.

“We understand he would be very keen on the West Ham job. West Ham would need to pay his release clause but there are loop holes around the contract.”

How reliable and indeed credible Indykalia News is as a source is unclear and should be taken with a pinch of salt at this stage.

Insider delivers his verdict on Moyes sack talk

But one person West Ham fans turn to when they have questions is reliable insider ExWHUemployee.

The anonymous Twitter and podcast personality responded to the claims.

And while ExWHUemployee conceded Moyes could be in danger due to West Ham’s torrid form, he believes the Scot is safe for now.

“Well there is truth in the sense that any managers are in danger of getting the sack if they lose lots of games but at the moment he is safe,” ExWHUemployee said.

It seems highly unlikely that Sullivan and Gold would pay compensation to two managers in a single season.

Although Moyes is only on an 18-month contract and would not be due the same kind of payout as Pellegrini, who was on a whopping £8million per year salary at West Ham (Football London).

And if appointing another new manager was to prove the catalyst to save West Ham from relegation it would be worth as much as £150million in TV revenue alone to the club.
