West Ham United defender Issa Diop has been linked with a mega money move to Manchester United.

According to widespread reports the Red Devils have approached West Ham about Diop’s availability.

West Ham are adamant they do not want to sell the impressive French centre back.

£75mil and Issa deal

But the Telegraph claims a bid of over £75million could change that situation.

Various reports have claimed West Ham were offered Phil Jones as a sweetener.

Others say West Ham responded by insisting striker Anthony Martial be part of the deal.

There has been talk that Diop would be open to the move.

And Sky Sports claim overnight that Diop’s agents are set for crunch talks with the Hammers hierarchy.

Great Scott

The report also makes an interesting new claim, that West Ham asked about the availability of highly rated Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay.

That would certainly tally with Manuel Pellegrini’s desire to bring another defensive midfielder in.

McTominay has also operated at centre back on occasion too.

West Ham’s current focus is on trying to secure the signature of striker Maxi Gomez.

Manuel’s Maripan, McTominay contingency?

Should Diop leave the Hammers could look to replace him with 25-year-old Chilean Guillermo Maripan.

If McTominay was to be part of any deal it could prove shrewd business.

But Diop has the potential to be one of Europe’s leading defenders.

And West Ham fans hope he will remain with them for some time yet.
