Marseille are waiting for West Ham to make a bid for Duje Caleta-Car according to a report from L’Equipe (print edition August 17th, page 2).
Hammers boss David Moyes is clearly very keen to bolster his centre-back ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
West Ham have walked away from talks with Nikola Milenkovic whilst a move to sign Kurt Zouma seems to be back on the agenda (Jacob Steinberg).
Caleta-Car is another name who has been persistently linked with a move to the London Stadium as well.
L’Equipe recently claimed that Moyes wants to bring the 24-year-old Marseille ace to the club this summer.
Marseille waiting for West Ham to bid for Caleta-Car
L’Equipe claim that the Ligue 1 outfit are desperate to move the Craotia international on.
Marseille could be willing to sell Caleta-Car for around £14 million (L’Equipe). And they are allegedly sitting back and waiting for the Hammers to make a concrete bid for the centre-back.
The towering central defender would be a very smart addition for West Ham.
In 33 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season, the Croatian scored two goals and registered one assist. In those outings, the Croatian averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.9 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
Caleta-Car is a very strong all-round defender and he would improve the Hammers’ backline immeasurably.
Whether West Ham make a concrete bid for the Croatian before the transfer window slams shut, however, remains to be seen.
