Mario Balotelli is still available on a free transfer…so what are West Ham waiting for.

The Hammers have already signed Sebastien Haller, but they could be left short in the centre-forward department.

Javier Hernandez is Manuel Pellegrini’s only other centre-forward option, and should Haller suffer any kind of injury or receive a suspension, the Mexican might not be enough, considering West Ham’s top six ambitions.

And Balotelli could be just the ticket for the east London outfit.

The enigmatic 28-year-old is an unbelievable talent, and he has the ability to produce something out of nothing.

The Italy international is an elite striker on his day, it is just a shame that his off-field antics have sometimes distracted from his on-field potential.

Balotelli, a Champions League winner with Inter Milan in 2010, would add a real level of competition for Haller and Hernandez.

His penchant for producing the spectacular would also surely help endear himself immediately to the West Ham fans.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool hitman is used to pace and intensity of the Premier League, and in spite of his troublesome reputation, he could be a real wildcard for the Hammers this season.

And his availability on a free makes a move for him a complete no-brainer for West Ham.
