This summer, Manuel Pellegrini turned down the chance to sign Yaya Toure.
Pellegrini worked with Toure when they were together at Manchester City, enjoying great success with the dominant midfielder at the club.
But the 35-year-old was rejected by Pellegrini this summer as he decided to pursue other options.
Yaya Toure rumours

In the summer, The London Evening Standard reported that Pellegrini rejected Toure as he was not needed at West Ham.
The Ivory Coast international was a free agent after leaving Man City and West Ham needed a new central midfielder.
But Pellegrini turned down this option, preferring to sign Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez instead.
Yaya Toure at Olympiacos

After missing out on a West Ham move, Toure returned to Olympiacos, where he played before spells with Monaco, Barcelona and Manchester City.
But his second spell with the club was much less enjoyable for the Ivorian.
Toure and Olympiacos decided to part ways after mutually agreeing his exit, the Greek club confirmed in a statement.
His stint with Olympiacos lasted just three months and he made five appearances before leaving.
The verdict
It looks like Pellegrini was justified on this decision. Even though Toure would have been a free transfer, his wages would have been hefty and he was looking for one last pay day.
With his 36th birthday coming up before the end of the year, it would not have made sense in Pellegrini’s long-term plans.
And with West Ham excelling without Toure, there is no need to regret missing out on him.
