West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters today, and responded when asked about his plans for the upcoming January transfer window, as quoted by Football.London.
The Hammers have made an underwhelming start to their Premier League campaign. They have taken just 19 points from their opening 17 games and they currently sit in 16th spot in the table.
Before the season begun, West Ham were being tipped to make a real push for the top six. But obviously that has failed to materialise.
The east London outfit look like a team devoid of any identity and Pellegrini himself seems to be lost on the touchline without any fresh ideas.
Many fans are pleading with the West Ham board to splash the cash in January. Although they will not be expecting much, given their track record.
Pellegrini faced the media today and responded when asked if he plans to make any signings in January, as quoted by Football.London:
“I don’t think that is important now, we have to play three games before the window. After that we will make a review of what we need in which positions we can improve. At this moment, we are not thinking about that. We will see after these three games.”
West Ham are weak in so many departments…
In truth, West Ham desperately need to invest in players in January.
Goalkeeper, right-back, central midfield and centre-forward are all areas that need bolstering.
But it is highly unlikely that David Sullivan and David Gold will provide Pellegrini with funds to do just that considering the fact that the Chilean’s future is uncertain.
And West Ham fans might just have to be prepared to accept that this season is a write-off.
