West Ham United have been linked with upwards of 60 players since the transfer window opened but the focus is sharpening on three of them.

West Ham have reportedly given Manuel Pellegrini a very modest transfer budget of £30million this summer.

That has not stopped the transfer rumour mill from spinning, though.

West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have pledged any money made from sales will be added to the kitty.

West Ham speculation explodes

A total of £10m from the Lucas Perez and Edimilson Fernandes deals means the transfer pot stands at £40m with another six or seven players likely to be sold.

Rumours, claims and counter claims have linked the Hammers with a plethora of players.

From Maxi Gomez to Andre Gomes. From Jonjo Shelvey to Stanislav Lobotka.

But a series of reports and claims from club insiders paint a new picture. The transfer master plan devised by Pellegrini and director of football Mario Husillos is starting to crystallise.

Pellegrini master plan comes into focus

The pair want a top class striker, playmaker and defensive midfielder.

Word is the ambitious double deal for Celta Vigo duo Gomez and Lobotka (Gianluca Di Marzio) to fill two of those positions is now unlikely.

West Ham are still intent on trying to sign Gomez.

But in midfield the attention instead has turned to Villareal star Pablo Fornals to fill the attacking midfield role (Sky Sports).

Trio would transform West Ham

West Ham would then look to push through a deal for another target who has been heavily linked this window, Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden (Daily Star).

The former Arsenal youth player is being allowed to leave the Magpies this summer. He wants to return to London for personal reasons.

And that plays into West Ham’s hands. As a result they should be able to get the powerful box-to-box Englishman for a reasonable fee.

A midfield containing the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere Declan Rice, Hayden and Fornals behind a forward line containing Gomez and Marko Arnautovic is a tantalising prospect. A marriage of guile, speed and power.

If Pellegrini and Husillos pull this off West Ham could be in for an exciting season indeed next term.
