Manuel Lanzini is going nowhere this summer according to West Ham United boss David Moyes.
The 28-year-old has been an absolute shadow of his former self since he suffered a serious ACL injury in the summer of 2018.
Lanzini reminded everyone of his quality on Monday night away at Burnley, however.
The Argentinian ace was deployed in a deeper role at Turf Moor and he was truly sensational.
In fact, it could be argued that that performance saved his West Ham career.
Manuel Lanzini staying at the London Stadium insists David Moyes
David Moyes spoke to reporters on Friday and suggested that he never once thought of selling Lanzini, as quoted by Claret and Hugh:
“I never had any plans of letting him go anyway, unless Manu wanted to leave. I’m more than happy with him. He has been really unlucky not to have started some more games. During the international break he picked up a calf injury and it meant that he missed those chances where he might have played in those games after the break and got more football. From that point of view and the form of Declan and Tomas being very strong for most of the season, the introduction of Jesse and Jarrod has made it harder for him to get in.”
If Manu can replicate the form he showed against Burnley for the remainder of the campaign and on into next season, he could still be a crucial player for West Ham.
The South American has certainly given Moyes another option in the middle of the park.
Lanzini is our diamond. How good would it be if he returned to his best!
Come on Manu, we all know you’ve got it in you!
