West Ham are interested in signing Mamadou Sakho from Crystal Palace on loan in January according to The Sun on Sunday (January 3rd, page 57).
In order for this to happen, the Hammers would obviously have to either make Craig Dawson’s loan move to the London Stadium a permanent one or send him back to Watford.
There are question marks as to whether we should be going anywhere near Mamadou Sakho, however.
In fact, West Ham should surely be staying well clear of the French centre-back.
Some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to links with Mamadou Sakho…
Sakho has played a peripheral role at Selhurst Park for Roy Hodgson’s Eagles side this season.
The 30-year-old is well past his best. And in truth, the last thing West Ham need this month is another centre-back.
We have Angelo Ogbonna, Fabian Balbuena and Craig Dawson all playing superbly well.
Aaron Cresswell has flourished as a left sided centre-back this season whilst Issa Diop is waiting in the wings. Meanwhile, West Ham have the likes of Aji Alese, Jamal Baptiste and Frederik Alves coming through the ranks.
This may well be one that is purely specualtion with no actual substance to it.
Let’s hope that’s the case anyway!
