Following their Champions League final win, Liverpool have confirmed on the club’s official website that Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge will be leaving.
Both players were out of contract this summer and they will be allowed to leave Anfield on a free transfer. Jurgen Klopp only used Moreno and Sturridge sparingly last season and they are leaving to reignite their respective careers elsewhere.
Daniel Sturridge to West Ham?
With Sturridge now available on a free transfer, West Ham fans have discussed the inevitable transfer links that are likely to follow. The Hammers have been linked with Sturridge in the past. This includes the recent past as The Daily Mail reported in April.
The 29-year-old is exactly the type of signing West Ham have made in recent years. He will be 30 by the start of next season and injuries have limited him to just 27 Premier League appearances in the past two seasons.
On his day, Sturridge is an excellent finisher. The England international has a sublime left foot but he has been persistently weighed down with injury problems.
Here are some tweets from West Ham fans who think Sturridge will wear claret and blue next season.
There’s no doubting his ability, but after the Andy Carroll saga surely we are past the point where we think the club would do this..
