West Ham midfielder Edimilson Fernandes could be set for a permanent exit this summer, according to reports in France.
French media outlet Le10Sport reports that Lyon are ready to make a move for Fernandes in the summer as a replacement for Tanguy Ndombele.
Fernandes has spent the season on loan at Fiorentina and his future is in doubt. Lyon could offer him a permanent move away from East London and a fresh start.
Does Edimilson Fernandes have a West Ham future?
Fernandes joined West Ham in 2016 and played 48 games for the club over two seasons. The Switzerland international scored one goal – against Chelsea in the cup.
But his time at West Ham has been up-and-down as he has drifted in and out of the first-team picture.
Manuel Pellegrini did not rate Fernandes when running the rule over the midfielder in pre-season, opting to send him out on loan to Fiorentina.
The Serie A club have an option to buy in the 22-year-old’s loan deal but have reservations about spending €8m (around £6.8m) on him.
Fernandes has been underwhelming for Fiorentina this season and does not justify that price tag, according to Corriere Fiorentino via Football Italia.
His poor season in Italy is unlikely to win him a West Ham reprieve but he could join French side Lyon, who sit third in Ligue 1 this season.
