West Ham United had a net spend of just £25million this summer.
It pales into insignificance compared to the £100million splurge when West Ham appointed Manuel Pellegrini last year.
West Ham needed a thorough renovation when the Chilean took over.
The Hammers signed 10 players last season – 11 including Samir Nasri in the winter.
And after allowing the same amount to leave this summer, there has been a fair amount of upheaval at West Ham.

West Ham’s transfer sea change
Pellegrini has added six players, but only three of those – Sebastien Haller, Pablo Fornals and Albian Ajeti – will realistically be in the first team picture.
Some supporters were not satisfied with the summer dealings. Many felt another defensive midfielder, striker and fullback was needed for West Ham to have a chance of pushing for the European spots.
West Ham have recovered from an opening day thrashing to Manchester City in impressive style.
Their performances since have had an air of control and balance that was not there before.
West Ham won three games in a week going into the international break. They find themselves seventh in the fledgling table and facing Oxford for a place in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

Pellegrini and Husillos building something special?
With Haller leading the line, Hammers fans are excited by the team’s potential.
The man he replaced as the club’s record signing, Felipe Anderson, has been superb too.
And the Brazilian believes less has been more in terms of transfers.
Anderson told whufc.com fewer signings has resulted in a more settled side, which is bearing fruit on the pitch.

‘Less is more’ says Anderson
“We’re playing intelligently and keeping possession of the ball and that makes easier to create chances and to convert them of course,” Anderson told the club’s official website.
“Our base of players is still the same, last season there were a lot of new faces, so it was harder to mould them into a unit.
“But this season we already have that base, and the new players have quality so the process is easier.”
Quality over quantity has certainly been the policy since the arrival of Pellegrini and director of football Mario Husillos.
It has served them well so far and fans will be hoping it continues to come to fruition on the pitch.
