Leeds United allegedly could challenge West Ham United for Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz this summer.
That’s according to a report from TEAMtalk who claims that Leeds could go back in for the Chile international after ex-manager Marcelo Bielsa rejected the chance to sign him last summer.
West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs to bring a new striker to the London Stadium this summer as does Leeds manager Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.

Michail Antonio is the only centre-forward option that Hammers boss Moyes has at his disposal whilst Patrick Bamford’s continual injury problems will be a big concern for the Whites.
There are still a few months to go before the transfer window opens but that doesn’t mean that clubs aren’t getting deals lined up already for priority transfer targets.

And it seems as though Moyes and Marsch could be set to go head-to-head for the same player this summer…
Leeds to challenge West Ham for Brereton Diaz signing
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the west Yorkshire outfit are set to fight the East Londoners all the way in the race for the 22-year-old striker’s signature.
And it’s little wonder why. Ben Brereton Diaz has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Blackburn this season and has bagged 20 goals in 30 Championship game (Transfermarkt).
Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.
Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently raved about the Chile international, as quoted by Lancs Live:
“Brereton with the ball at his feet is an extraordinary talent. He’s a wonderful footballer who can dribble with both feet, take people out of the game.”
After struggling during the early years of his career, it seems as though he has received a real confidence boost from being included in the Chile squad.

Brereton Diaz has great movement, impressive physical attributes and is a fantastic finisher. The Sun reckons that he will be available for around £25 million.
That seems like a fairly extortionate fee to pay for someone who is out of contract in the summer of 2023. And it is debatable as to whether West Ham or Leeds will be prepared to pay that kind of money for the striker.
Perhaps if Blackburn lowered their demands to £15-20 million it would be a fairer price to pay.
Having said that, if West Ham and Leeds are battling it out for Brereton Diaz’s signature in the summer, Blackburn may well be able to start a bidding war.
The Chilean would definitely provide Moyes with an option that he doesn’t otherwise possess at the London Stadium. We think he would be a very smart addition for the Hammers. Whether we will be able to beat the Whites in the race for his signature remains to be seen though.
