Leaked email from Manchester United chief Ed Woodward sounds ominous for West Ham over Rice and Diop

A leaked internal email from Manchester United chief Ed Woodward reads like an ominous warning to West Ham United.

The Red Devils have been linked with two key West Ham stars this summer.

First reports claimed Manchester United want West Ham’s midfield linchpin Declan Rice (Metro).

Then came supposed leaks that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was also keen to recruit Rice’s West Ham teammate Issa Diop (Sky Sports).

West Ham insist young star duo not for sale

West Ham have privately insisted neither are for sale.

The Telegraph claims the Hammers would only listen to offers of £75million plus for Diop.

Just last week a new report claimed Manchester United were ready to offer players plus £65m.

West Ham fans are hoping the speculation dies down.

The East Londoners have signed exciting Spanish Euro 2019 Under 21 winner Pablo Fornals and are looking to build a side Manuel Pellegrini can get challenging for Europe.

Leaked email sounds ominous warning

But West Ham be warned.

Manchester United have made a fast start to the transfer window, signing young talents Dan James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a combined £65m this summer.

And Red Devils chief Ed Woodward appears to have a rather ominous message for the likes of West Ham if a leaked internal email to staff is anything to go by.

“Despite the inflated nature of the transfer market and constant speculation and stories, which can be misleading, the recruitment team – in conjunction with the manager – are working calmly behind the scenes to bring in other exciting players that fit their long-term vision for the club,” Woodward wrote in the email which was leaked to Sky Sports.

“Following the arrival of Daniel James from Swansea earlier this month, I am delighted to confirm that we have signed exciting young defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

“Aaron fits perfectly with Ole’s philosophy and plans for building his team and is a player who will excite our great fans as the season unfolds.”

The report reaffirms that Manchester United are hell bent on revamping their squad with ‘younger, hungrier players’.

There is just over a month of the transfer window to go.

And it could be a long month for West Ham if Manchester United get serious over Rice and Diop.
