Reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has poured cold water on rumours linking Felipe Caicedo with a move to West Ham in the summer, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Thursday March 4th, 84 minutes 59 seconds into the show).
David Moyes will surely be looking to bolster his centre-forward department in the summer.
And according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Lazio hitman Felipe Caicedo could be an option for West Ham.
The 68-capped Ecuador international joined Lazio in the summer of 2017 from Espanyol, and he has gone on to score 23 goals in 100 appearances for the Italian outfit.
And this season, he has bagged eight goals in 29 games.
West Ham should avoid the South American
In truth, Caicedo doesn’t exactly seem to be the kind of signing the Hammers should be targeting.
And ExWHUemployee suggested that we shouldn’t take any notice of the links with Caicedo, as things stand, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night:
“There has been links with Felipe Caicedo who plays in Italy. We’ve been linked with him so many times before, I think it’s just lazy journalism. Firstly he’s 31, secondly we don’t know what division we’re going to be in and thirdly the link was Pellegrini, who’s obviously not there any more. So I don’t think it’s worth talking about at the moment.”
West Ham fans will be fairly happy with that take on the Caicedo rumours.
The Hammers need to be targeting young and hungry strikers in the summer. Someone like Brentford hitman Ollie Watkins would be ideal.
Signing the 24-year-old would be something that the West Ham fans could really get behind.
David Moyes’s men must retain their Premier League status this season, however, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of attracting top talent to the club in the summer.
