Arsenal owned Konstantinos Mavropanos has opened the door to a summer switch to West Ham United from the Bundesliga.

BILD recently claimed that Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bring the Greece international to the London Stadium.

The Arsenal owned centre-back, 24, is currently out on loan in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.

The German club have an option to sign the Greek ace for just £2.5 million (BILD).

Mavropanos has been a real hit with Stuttgart. In 17 Bundesliga outings, he has scored four goals and averaged 1.9 tackles, 2.3 interceptions and 5.5 clearances per match. The Greek ace has also won an average of 2.8 aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

Considering his fine form in the Bundesliga, there is a very good chance that he will be snapped up on a permanent deal by the Germans. Stuttgart may well then decide to move him on once again for a massive profit.

West Ham will have to shell out around £21 million in order to sign the 24-year-old defender, however, according to BILD.

For that kind of money, he would be a truly brilliant addition for the Hammers in the summer window.

The Greek defender sat down for an exclusive interview with BILD.

Mavropanos admitted that he would like a return to the Premier League at some point:

“Stuttgart is one of the biggest clubs in Germany. At the moment, I’m only concentrating on VfB and making sure we stay in the league. I would like to play in the Premier League again at some point.”

Now, with West Ham in such dire need of a top-class centre-back, and the player himself keen to return to England, the Arsenal owned Stuttgart loanee moving to the London Stadium in the summer seems like a very realistic possibility.

The 24-year-old is an absolute colossus in the air and yet he’s very good with his feet as well. This season, he’s made 56.6 passes per game on average for Stuttgart and has recored a completion rate of 80% (Who Scored).

The only red flag for the Hammers is that Mavropanos isn’t left-footed and usually operates on the right side of central defence.

So the Greek star obviously won’t be seen as the natural long-term replacement for Angelo Ogbonna. He would be a great player to bring in and alternate with Kurt Zouma though.

And let’s face it, even if he had to operate on the left hand side, he would be a better option than either Craig Dawson or Issa Diop.

If West Ham are able to spend £21 million on the Arsenal-owned Stuttgart ace in the summer, we shouldn’t hesitate to do so. Moyes would strengthen his central defensive options immeasurably by bringing Mavropanos to East London.
