The Bundesliga outfit have an obligation to make the signing a permanent one next summer for just £3 million (The Athletic).

That would have been outstanding business for the Hammers.

Bringing in a top class central defender is one of the Scot’s three main priorities according to Claret and Hugh.

Konstantinos Mavropanos leaves Arsenal, a missed opportunity for West Ham?

The Greek ace would have been ideal for the Hammers.

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the 23-year-old cuts an imposing physique. He is very strong in the air and isn’t afraid to mix things up physically with opposing strikers.

Mavropanos enjoyed a wonderful loan spell with Stuttgart last season.

During 21 appearances for the German outfit, the centre-back averaged two tackles, 2.8 interceptions and three clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.2 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

At just 23, the Greek defender could have gone on to improve even further still over the next few years.

Moyes is well-known for making players he manages even better. And it really does seem like we have missed a trick by not signing Mavropanos from Arsenal this summer.
