Gary Medel, who was linked with West Ham in January, has opened the door to a summer exit, according to reports.

Giving an update on his future, Besiktas midfielder Medel refused to rule out a move this summer amid rumours linking him with a move to East London.

In January, Medel was strongly linked with West Ham. Manuel Pellegrini eyed fellow Chilean Medel as his answer to the injury crisis at The London Stadium (Sky Sports News).

The former Cardiff City player can play at centre-back, right-back or in holding midfield; three areas that needed addressing. But this move failed to materialise and Medel remained in Turkey with Besiktas.

The rumours have not gone away since the January transfer window shut, though.

According to CNN Turk, Medel regrets not joining the Hammers, while Milliyet reports that Medel’s family want the move to London.

Speaking to Fox Sports via La Tercera, Medel has given an update on his future and kept the door open for a summer move.

As translated by Sport Witness, Medel said: “I still do not talk about renewing. I have one year left on my contract, but the truth is that I do not know what I will want for the future. Later it will be time to talk about that.”
