Jamie Redknapp shared how he has heard great things about West Ham ace Andriy Yarmolenko from Ukrainian legend Andriy Shevchenko, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old joined the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2018 for a fee believed to be worth £17.5 million, according to Sky Sports.
Yarmolenko’s debut campaign in England was ruined after he ruptured his Achilles.
He has made an impressive return to action this term, however. The Ukraine international has racked up two goals in five appearances thus far. And it seems as though he will be a real asset for West Ham this season.
And Redknapp shares how he’s heard great things about the former Dortmund ace from Shevchenko, when writing his column for the Daily Mail:
“The Ukrainian forward tore his achilles last year, and it prevented us all from getting to see his quality. I’ve heard great things about him from Andriy Shevchenko, and hope he can stay fit and show us what he can do now.”
Yarmolenko certainly has the ability. The Hammers fans must be patient with the Ukraine international, however.
He was out for a long time with what was an incredibly serious injury.
And Manuel Pellegrini must be careful not to rush him back too soon.
The left-footed attacker provides West Ham with an entirely different option in the final third. And the London Stadium faithful will hopefully see the best of him this season.
