James Ward-Prowse’s nightmare at West Ham United has come to a temporary end.
Ironically, Ward-Prowse‘s move to Burnley on loan for the rest of the season came only a few days after he was included in a West Ham United squad for the first time since September.
It’s no secret that Ward-Prowse and Nuno Espirito Santo did not see eye-to-eye at West Ham, having previously worked together at Nottingham Forest.
The issues the former Southampton midfielder endured in east London came way before Nuno’s arrival, however.
West Ham did all they could but Lucas Paqueta STILL wanted out! 😡

In truth, the 31-year-old proved a terrible signing for the club and that was evident during Graham Potter’s time at the club.
Under contract until the summer of 2027, his long-term future is still something the club must sort out. Still, the can has been kicked somewhat down the road at least, with Ward-Prowse joining the Clarets on loan for the rest of the season.
Now, he’s spoken.
James Ward-Prowse delighted to join Burnley from West Ham United
It was a busy day of transfer news involving the Hammers on Wednesday.
Indeed, shortly after the Hammers confirmed the signing of Adama Traore, they also confirmed that they had agreed a deal to sell Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo.
A few hours after that, Ward-Prowse’s move up to Turf Moor was confirmed.

When asked about what the move meant to him, Ward-Prowse told Burnley’s official website: “I’m really pleased to be here.
“As soon as I heard of Burnley’s interest and spoke to the manager, I knew this loan spell was just what I needed.
“There’s a big battle between now and the end of the season, but I’m going to relish every moment.
“I just want to get out there, pull on the Burnley shirt and give my all for the challenge that’s ahead.”

West Ham will be hoping James Ward-Prowse succeeds at Burnley
On the face of it, the idea of West Ham actively strengthening a relegation rival in the form of Burnley does seem strange.
However, Ward-Prowse’s move to West Ham has turned into a nightmare and the player will have done very little to raise his value since joining the club.
While the prospect of West Ham getting anything like the reported £30million they paid to sign Ward-Prowse from Southampton always felt unlikely, they could do with him doing at least something to convince other clubs to buy him this summer.
As such, even though it might help a Clarets side only a few points behind West Ham, the Hammers could certainly do with Ward-Prowse putting himself in the shop window.
