Former West Ham United favourite Jack Collison has questioned the ambition of his old club amid reports Grady Diangana will be sold to West Bromwich Albion.

According to the likes of The Telegraph and Sky Sports, West Ham have agreed a deal with new Premier League rivals West Brom for Diangana.

The skilful, pacy young attacker was one of the stars of West Brom’s promotion campaign while on loan with the Baggies last season.

Key to Moyes plans but Diangana looks set to be sold

Diangana, 22, was expected to form a central part of David Moyes’s plans to build an exciting young West Ham side.

The winger showed his class setting up all three of Sebastien Haller’s goals in the pre-season win over Ipswich last week.

But just as the Hammers look to have finally found someone to supply their £45 million striker, Diangana looks set to be sold.

Club insiders Claret & Hugh – who have direct links to co-owners Sullivan and David Gold – have confirmed Diangana looks to be on his way with varying reports claiming the fee is anything between £12-20 million.

It comes as Moyes continues to miss out on a host of transfer targets having been told there is no money to spend.

West Ham owners risk wrath of fans with Diangana sale

Sullivan and Gold are pleading poverty due to the global health crisis.

A crisis it seems is uniquely affecting West Ham’s finances given most of the club’s Prem rivals – and many Championship clubs – are active in the transfer market.

Moyes has made it clear he wants to build a new-look side around young, energetic players hungry to prove themselves at the top level.

Diangana ticks all those boxes.

But his impending sale has raised serious question marks about West Ham’s ambitions.

Hammers hero Collison questions old club’s ambition

And now former hero and Hammers youth coach Collison has questioned the club’s ambition and motives in a post on Twitter.

“West Ham looking to build young and exciting team – Grady certainly is both of those,” Collison said alongside crying and questioning emojis.

“Great news for Grady and what a signing for West Brom – best of luck superstar.”

Should it go through, the sale of Diangana appears to have been the final straw for disgruntled West Ham fans.

Hammers supporters have been reacting with fury on social media.

Claret & Hugh revealed earlier this summer that Moyes has no money for signings and must sell to buy.

If Diangana is sold for £18m that takes the amount raised from the sale of him, Albian Ajeti and Jordan Hugill to around £25m.

Whether Moyes is given those funds to reinvest remains to be seen.
