West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini looks to be ‘doing an Arsene Wenger’ with his transfer business.
West Ham made Spanish midfield technician Pablo Fornals their second most expensive signing of all time at the weekend (whufc.com).
The playmaker joins an impressive list of midfielders already at West Ham.

Too many cooks spoil the broth
Pellegrini now has Fornals, Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini, Jack Wilshere, Robert Snodgrass, Andriy Yarmolenko and Michail Antonio in his attacking midfield armoury.
So there was some surprise when West Ham were linked with yet another, Jefferson Savarino.
Reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee claimed on Monday that the Hammers could be looking to sign the diminutive winger.

Hammers want Savarino?
“West Ham and Newcastle United are apparently interested in Venezuelan winger Jefferson Savarino and will scout him against Brazil,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.
“I haven’t had it confirmed yet but it does sound the sort of player (director of football Mario) Husillos would be keen on.”
And Sky Sports followed that up by reporting West Ham have sent scouts to watch the Venezuelan in action against Brazil in the Copa America with a view to a £6million move.
Savarino plays for MLS side Real Salt Lake and at 22-years-old he fits West Ham’s transfer policy of signing young talented players.

Pellegrini in danger of ‘doing a Wenger’
But do West Ham really need him?
Pellegrini is in danger of doing a Wenger.
The ex Arsenal boss was ridiculed for his obsession with signing lots of diminutive midfield playmaker types during a long barren spell which eventually cost him his job.
Yes West Ham fans want to watch good football. But Wenger’s more recent sides lacked the variety of his brilliant teams of the past.
Perhaps Pellegrini should hold fire on Savarino until he has one or two striker deals over the line.
