West Ham United fans are delighted after Declan Rice was finally handed the new long-term contract they have been calling for.
Hammers supporters have been urging the club to reward 19-year-old phenomenon Rice with a new deal for months.
West Ham’s failure to do so had prompted speculation that Rice could be lured elsewhere.
The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City were linked with the midfield destroyer.
The new deal should put any talk of a potential move away to bed.
Manuel Pellegrini has turned West Ham into a real force with five wins from six games in December so far.

Rice key to Pellegrini’s West Ham success
Rice, with 50 appearances already, has been key to that success.
His performances, not only this season but over the last 18 months, have sparked comparisons with greats like Roy Keane and even Hammers royalty Bobby Moore.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has showered Rice with the highest praise since the star agreed a new contract, praising his maturity, focus and ability saying he has a ‘very bright future’ (Evening Standard).

‘Destined for the very top’
And now Burnley and Ireland striker Jon Walters, currently on loan at Ipswich Town, has backed Rice to reach the very top.
“At 19 Declan Rice is easily up there in the top three young players in the Premier League,” Walters said on Twitter.
“A monumental player for West Ham and if he keeps on going the way he is, one destined for the very top.”
Of course Walters has witnessed Rice’s talents up close during their time together in Republic of Ireland squads.
That was before the young midfielder reached a fork in the road over his international future.

Next step to decide international future
Rice is yet to decide whether he will represent Ireland or England.
It is no wonder both countries want to see him commit his talents to their badge.
Time will tell where his allegiances are in that respect.
For now West Ham fans can just sit back and enjoy watching one of the finest prospects to emerge from their famous academy for 15 years.
