West Ham United have been handed a big boost with regards to their hopes of signing Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal from Manchester United.

Lingard has been in truly sensational form for the Hammers since moving to the London Stadium on loan in January.
The 25-capped England international has five goals and two assists to his name in seven games for West Ham so far.
He has been nominated for two successive Premier League player of the month awards.

He has already established himself as one of David Moyes’s most important players.
So it would have been worrying for West Ham fans to read the Sun’s report this morning claiming that Manchester United are ready to offer Lingard a three-year deal in order to keep him at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old will clearly be a man in demand in the summer.

That really is great news for the Hammers, if it’s true of course.
It will be far from easy to sign Lingard permanently. There will undoubtedly be other interested parties.
Jesse does seem to be very happy at the London Stadium, however. And that will surely count for a lot.
The West Ham board just need to prove that we can match the 28-year-old’s ambition both on the pitch and off it in the transfer market.
If we do that, there is no reason why Lingard won’t sign for West Ham permanently in the summer.
