West Ham United’s move for Said Benrahma was said to be on the verge of collapse yesterday.
According to The Mirror, West Ham had a deal agreed with Brentford but that has been jeopardised. The report claims it comes after Benrahma fell out with the Bees hierarchy over ‘broken promises’.
Speculation suggests those broken promises relate to a 15% loyalty payment for Benrahma as the Algerian did not request a move.
The Mirror claims the 25-year-old West Ham target made contact with Brentford co-director of football Phil Giles over the weekend to make his position clear.
West Ham had medical booked but Benrahma deal hits turbulence
At that stage West Ham had already agreed a deal worth £17million guaranteed and £8million in add-ons with the Championship side.
A medical had even been set for when Benrahma returns from international duty on Wednesday but The Mirror says now the deal appears to be off.
The news went down like a lead balloon with most West Ham fans who are sick of the club’s continual struggles in the transfer market.
But there is hope according to West Ham insiders Claret & Hugh and ExWHUemployee.
Insiders claim there is hope deal can be saved
When West Ham fans want answers they often turn to Claret & Hugh – who have direct links to owners David Sullivan and David Gold – and anonymous Twitter personality Ex.
And both West Ham sources confirmed last night that the club are still hopeful of concluding a deal.
“The deal has stalled due to “last minute demands”,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.
“It is hoped that this can be resolved so that the player can join, King will be revisited if not.
“Talks still ongoing. Remember player is away on international duty so talks are not as easy.”

“Essentially talks are continuing but everything remains uncertain on the negotiations because it’s also now well known that we are retaining our interest in Josh King,” Claret & Hugh claim.
“No doubt one or the other will arrive but you can bet your life away it will go right down to the wire and there will be denial and counter denial along the way.”
Wednesday a key day for West Ham’s hopes
The verdicts of both insiders is backed up by a report from The Guardian which claims David Moyes is still hopeful of concluding the deal.
“West Ham believe that their attempted £30m move for Saïd Benrahma could still happen despite the deal running into complications because of a sticking point between the winger and his current club Brentford,” The Guardian reports.
It appears nothing will be resolved either way until Benrahma arrives back in England from international duty where he started in a 1-0 friendly win over Nigeria and is set to face Mexico tonight.
