Prominent West Ham United insiders have delivered an exciting update on the future of Jesse Lingard and Craig Dawson.
West Ham boss David Moyes signed Dawson on loan from Watford in the summer window.
And he snapped up Lingard on loan for the rest of the season from Manchester United in January.
Both signings raised eyebrows. West Ham fans and pundits had doubts over both signings. Many questioned whether they would even get into the West Ham side.
Hammers loan duo dispel doubts as fans urge club to make moves permanent
Now, ironically, Lingard and Dawson have been so brilliant Hammers supporters want to see them signed permanently.
There are fears Lingard’s superb form and fitness since joining could attract other clubs and a potential bidding war.
Particularly in Lingard’s case given West Ham do not have a pre-agreed option with Manchester United to buy the 28-year-old midfielder.
West Ham fans have been urging the club to get both players signed up permanently.
West Ham insiders deliver hugely exciting update on transfer plans for Dawson and Lingard
Speaking on his Patreon site, ExWHUemployee claims West Ham have an obligation to buy Dawson for £2.5 million which could be triggered soon.
“In response to my tweet yesterday about us ‘surely signing Dawson’ club sources today made contact and have revealed that Craig Dawson has an obligation to buy clause which is thought to be triggered after a certain amount of appearances for the club,” ExWHUemployee said on Patreon.
“The figure is thought to be either 15 or 20 Premier League games and the fee around £2.5m. The club are extremely confident that he will continue to be a West Ham player next year.”
Ex’s fellow Hammers insiders Claret & Hugh made the same claim about Dawson.
‘Dawson move 99% certain and ‘huge surprise’ if Lingard move is not made permanent by West Ham’
“Claret & Hugh understands that while Watford and West Ham are keeping the exact number games required to trigger the clause close to their chest, the Irons are 99% sure they will sign the defender on permanent deal in the summer…” Claret & Hugh report.
“The transfer fee payable to Watford is believed to be somewhere between £2m and £3m, a far cry from the £30m the club were prepared to pay for James Tarkowski.”
So while Dawson looks a near certainty to sign up permanently, what about Lingard?
Earlier this month Claret & Hugh claimed West Ham were highly likely to sign Lingard for around £10m in the summer.
Now the ball seems to be very much in Man United’s court.
But the insiders with close links to West Ham owners David Sullivan and David Gold, claim it would be a ‘huge surprise’ if the club did not make the move permanent.
“He (Lingard) looks as though he has found his new spiritual home,” Claret & Hugh state.
“And although we wait on Manchester United to decide when he will become available for transfer it would be a huge surprise if he’s not on his way to the London Stadium permanently.”
