Insider: West Ham's Jesse Lingard hopes dead after final David Moyes push as club's ambition is questioned

An insider says West Ham’s Jesse Lingard hopes are dead after a final David Moyes push as the club’s ambition is questioned.

That’s according to West Ham insiders speaking to Claret and Hugh in a depressing transfer update this weekend.

It is one of football’s worst kept secrets that Moyes was desperate to bring Lingard back to West Ham last summer and again in January.

Man United blocked attempts by both West Ham and Newcastle, though, leaving Lingard to rot on the bench.

Sky Sports recently reported that West Ham have made contact with Lingard regarding a return to east London and claimed Newcastle have dropped their interest.

The Guardian also reported the same story about West Ham and Lingard.

Insider: West Ham’s Jesse Lingard hopes dead after final David Moyes push as club’s ambition is questioned

Claret and Hugh reported recently that the Lingard move may be hampered by an incident during his loan spell in which the midfield ace had an expensive watch stolen.

Now West Ham’s Lingard hopes are dead after final a Moyes push as the Hammers ambition is questioned.

That’s according to Claret and Hugh who are reporting that there is now ‘little or no chance’ of Lingard signing for West Ham this summer.

“David Moyes is again believed to have failed in convincing Jesse Lingard to return to the London Stadium on a permanent basis,” Claret and Hugh claim.

“One source told us that he remains certain that the player has made up his mind that West Ham is not for him.

“He explained that he would need to see some real ambition and serious players signed to even consider it and his personal terms are remain well out of the Hammers range anyway.”

Signing Lingard on a free would have been a brilliant bit of business for West Ham.

But if the insider’s claims to Claret and Hugh are accurate then those hopes have well and truly faded and died.

In better news for West Ham the move for defender Nayef Aguerd looks set to be completed when he finishes international duty with Morocco next week – bar any last minute hitches.
