West Ham will move again for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon. According to reliable West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee, the Hammers have a new plan to snap up Rondon.
On The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 3rd July), EXWHUEmployee told listeners that West Ham will return with a cash-plus-player offer for Rondon.
According to The Mirror, West Ham’s recent bid of £10m plus Sam Byram and Jordan Hugill was rejected. But West Ham will now offer more money and take Hugill out of the deal.
West Brom’s new manager is Slaven Bilic with Julian Dicks on the coaching staff. The Irons hope that this will boost the relationship between the two clubs and help them land Rondon.
Sam Byram to West Brom?
West Ham offered Byram and Hugill but it seems that Bilic does not want the latter. Hugill scored seven goals on loan at Middlesbrough last season and will probably leave this summer.
But West Brom want to explore other striker options rather than committing to the Hugill signing. The 27-year-old has only played three games for West Ham since his January 2018 move.
West Brom appear to be keen on Byram, though. Bilic signed the right-back from Leeds United during his time at West Ham, although injury has hampered his progress.
Last season, the 25-year-old was on loan at Nottingham Forest. And despite missing seven months of the season through injury, Byram impressed fans enough to prompt widespread calls for his return.
But it looks like Byram could be heading to West Brom instead. Bilic will be looking for a new right-back after Craig Dawson moved to Watford and Mason Holgate’s loan expired.
Salomon Rondon wants West Ham move
If West Brom accept the cash plus Byram offer, it will be down to West Ham to agree on personal terms with Rondon. And it looks like the player wants to move to East London.
The Venezuela international worked with Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga and now wants to reunite with him. Last season, Rondon was on loan at Newcastle United, where he scored 12 goals.
But Rafa Benitez’s departure has hampered Newcastle’s hopes of re-signing the powerful 29-year-old. This deal looks like it could go ahead in the coming weeks.
