West Ham want to sign four Newcastle United players this summer, according to reliable club insider EXWHUEmployee.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 8th May), EXWHUEmployee told listeners that Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles were all on West Ham’s wishlist.

Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon, who is on loan from West Brom, is another player who West Ham could look to sign this summer. However, he is not considered a priority.

Newcastle captain Lascelles has been a mainstay in central defence for quite some time now. The 25-year-old helped Newcastle to promotion in the Championship and now has nearly 150 appearances to his name in black and white.

Formerly of Nottingham Forest and England U21, Lascelles is a powerful 6ft 2in centre-back. If he joined West Ham, he would compete with Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna.

West Ham have held a long-term interest in midfielder Shelvey. EXWHUEmployee backs up a report by The Northern Echo which claims West Ham want the 27-year-old this summer.

The six-cap England midfielder is a boyhood West Ham fan and is reportedly keen on the move. He has played less often than he would like at Newcastle due to injuries and is targeting a fresh start in East London.

Hayden would be an alternative to Shelvey in central midfield. The 24-year-old has taken Shelvey’s spot in the Newcastle side and has earned rave reviews for his box-to-box displays in recent weeks.

But Hayden needs to return to the south due to family reasons with West Ham keen (The Telegraph). The Chelmsford-born midfielder, formerly of Arsenal, would surely relish a move to West Ham for these reasons.

Rondon is considered a battering-ram style of striker. Using his physical frame, the Venezuela international has been a key part of Newcastle’s plans and has brought the best out of Ayoze Perez.

With 10 goals and seven assists in the Premier League this season, the 29-year-old is performing well. West Ham probably see Rondon as an alternative to Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
