West Ham could be in the hunt for Jack Grealish this summer, according to reliable insider EXWHUEmployee. Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 15th May), EXWHUEmployee told listeners that West Ham will consider Grealish if Aston Villa fail to win promotion.
Aston Villa will face Derby County in the play-off final next weekend. It is a one-match shootout to decide who will play Premier League football next season.
If the Villans stay in the Championship, Grealish will become a West Ham target. EXWHUEmployee notes that the club hope Aston Villa lose so that they can target Grealish.
Jack Grealish: a man in-demand
Grealish has been heavily linked with a Premier League move for a while now. The 23-year-old has been with Aston Villa for his whole career, aside from a loan spell at Notts County.
The ex-England U21 international is wanted by Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur (The Daily Mail) among others.
Grealish operates as an attacking midfielder. He can play out wide but he prefers a central role, where he can pick the ball up from deep and carry it forward.
The skilful 23-year-old has inspired Aston Villa’s promotion push this season. When he returned from injury, Aston Villa were ambling along in mid-table.
But Dean Smith gave Grealish the captain’s armband and it has worked wonders. With six goals and seven assists, Grealish has been the difference for Aston Villa.
The Solihull-raised midfielder is a boyhood Aston Villa fan. His dream will be to continue with his local club in the Premier League. But if they lose to Derby, he needs to move on.
Gareth Southgate has told Grealish that he needs to be playing in the top-flight to be considered for England (The Telegraph). And the Hammers can offer him Premier League football if this happens.
