When speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday, July 24th), ExWHUemployee suggested that Manuel Pellegrini could make a move for Gabriel Barbosa this summer, although it is unlikely as things stand.
The Hammers have already signed Sebastien Haller for £45 million. Having sold Marko Arnautovic and released Andy Carroll, however, Pellegrini will surely be keen to bring in another striker.
And Barbosa could be just the ticket for West Ham.
The 22-year-old has spent the last two seasons away from Inter Milan on loan with two different clubs – Santos and Flamengo. And he’s been in fine form, racking up 29 goals in 57 games.
And when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday, July 24th), ExWHUemployee claimed that the Brazilian is still a target for West Ham:
“There was talk today of Gabriel Barbosa, remember he’s been linked before. He’s doing really well on loan in Brazil from Inter. If we did get him, which I think is unlikely, it would be a loan with a view to buy.”
Quite how much Inter would demand for Gabigoal is unclear.
The Serie A side signed the striker for £22.3 million from Santos in 2016, according to ESPN.
As things stand, it seems as though West Ham have little money to spend. And Inter Milan will surely not want to let Barbosa leave on loan again.
So this seems to be a deal that is very unlikely to happen this summer.
