Hammers insider ExWHUemployee suggested that West Ham will not be moving for Chuba Akpom in January, although he did claim that the club have looked at the former Arsenal hitman.
Reports surfaced earlier this week that West Ham were considering a move for the 24-year-old PAOK ace.
Akpom left Arsenal in the summer of 2018, and he has gone on to score nine goals in 38 games for the Greek side. Hardly prolific stuff.
The Hammers are in desperate need of a new striker. Sebastien Haller is not producing the goods. And Albian Ajeti is clearly not good enough for the Premier League.
Quite who Manuel Pellegrini will be targeting, however, remains to be seen.
It seems as though Akpom will not be moving to the London Stadium, however.
ExWHUemployee suggested that the former Gunners forward is not a priority for West Ham, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast (Tuesday, December 3rd):
“There is no serious interest in Akpom. They have looked at him in the past, but he is not someone at the top fo the radar.”
Akpom is a decent striker, but he is not good enough for West Ham. He was born in Canning Town, so a move to the London Stadium would undoubtedly appeal to the striker.
If Ex is to be believed, however, he won’t be moving back to east London anytime soon.
