Well-renowned West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has rubbished claims that Hammers officials have ended discussions with the representatives of Maxi Gomez.
The Hammers have reportedly been chasing the Uruguayan all summer long.
Gomez bagged 13 goals in 36 appearances for Celta Vigo last season, and he seems to have the whole package.
West Ham seem to be fighting a losing battle for the striker, however. He is thought to prefer a switch to Valencia, according to Sky Sports.
And last night, claims were made on Twitter that Hammers officials left Vigo after failing with a bid in excess of £40 million for the striker:
That claim was subsequently rubbished by ExWHUemployee, however. He responded when asked by a fan whether the claim made about West Ham exiting negotiations were true:
It seems as though there is plenty more that could happen with Gomez.
West Ham could really do with someone like the Uruguayan, but they must ensure that they don’t invest too much time and energy into trying to sign someone who is seemingly so reluctant to move to the London Stadium.
There are plenty of other targets who the Hammers could be going after. And Manuel Pellegrini needs at least two top class hitmen, if West Ham are to enjoy a successful campaign next season.
