West Ham have been looking for a cheap striker. And Fernando Llorente is the latest striker being considered, according to trusted West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee.
As things stand, Llorente will leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of this month. His contract is due to expire and Tottenham are looking at other strikers.
West Ham have already released Andy Carroll this summer and sold Lucas Perez. Javier Hernandez will probably leave too so at least two new strikers must come in.
With a limited budget, West Ham could look to Llorente. Maxi Gomez remains the Hammers’ top target (The London Evening Standard). But Llorente could arrive as a back-up choice.
Fernando Llorente: Andy Carroll replacement?

Llorente offers a similar style of play to outgoing West Ham striker Carroll. Both players stand at 6ft 4in tall and provide an aerial presence going forward.
Last season, Llorente struggled for regular starts at Spurs but made some vital contributions. With eight goals and five assists in 35 games, the 34-year-old did his job as Harry Kane’s back-up.
The arrival of Llorente is unlikely to get West Ham fans excited. But as a ‘plan B’ option to allow West Ham to go more direct, the Spaniard could fill Carroll’s boots. And his injury record is much better than Carroll’s too.
