Peterborough United are eyeing a late summer move for Joe Powell. According to trusted club insider EXWHUEmployee, West Ham midfielder Powell is attracting attention from the League One club.
Posh are hoping that Powell can bolster their midfield before tomorrow’s deadline. The youngster has been playing for West Ham’s U23 team and impressing. But now he could earn himself a loan move to the ABAX Stadium.
Make-or-break for Joe Powell
Last season, Powell was sent on loan to Northampton Town in January. He played 10 times for the League Two side, scoring twice and also providing an assist. This form for the Cobblers earned Powell a one-year contract extension at West Ham.
With just one year remaining on his Hammers deal, Powell needs to use this next loan spell to impress. The 20-year-old is a standout performer in the academy and he did well in League Two.
The next step in his career is to impress in the third tier of English football. If he continues to show improvements, he could earn himself another contract extension. And ultimately, he will be aiming to build on his one appearance (and two assists) for Manuel Pellegrini’s team.
