West Ham could make a loan move for AC Milan striker Andre Silva, according to trusted insider EXWHUEmployee. Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 10th July), EXWHUEmployee revealed that Silva was a potential loan target.
The Hammers’ search for a new striker has been well-documented. Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez have all left this summer with just Javier Hernandez and Jordan Hugill remaining at the club.
West Ham’s move for Maxi Gomez fell short and now alternative options have been discussed. EXWHUEmployee named a few, including Sebastian Haller, Wissam Ben Yedder and Moussa Marega, as well as Silva.
Is Andre Silva the right choice?
Silva is a promising young striker but he will need a fresh start elsewhere. Things have not worked out for him at AC Milan (10 goals in 40 games) and he spent last season on loan at Sevilla.
During his time at Sevilla, he started well but faded. Silva ended up with 11 goals in 40 games and the Spanish side will not pursue a permanent deal for him.
This could open the door for the Irons to swoop. Silva showed his promise while with FC Porto, scoring 24 times in 58 games. If he can recapture that form in England, he could be a good signing.
The 33-cap Portugal international would be a cheap option too if he joins on a loan deal. This means that West Ham can try to sign another key striker alongside Silva.
