Rondon is likely to snub West Ham to move to China. Ironically, West Ham are missing out on a China-bound striker to replace China-bound striker Marko Arnautovic.

According to The Times, the Venezuela striker is closing on a move to Dalian Yifang. The Chinese Super League club recently appointed Rafa Benitez as their manager.

And the Spaniard wants Rondon to become his first summer signing. Finances are not an issue and Dalian Yifang have triggered Rondon’s £16m release clause.

West Ham have hesitated on this, instead choosing to offer less money and some players in return. While West Ham dally, Dalian Yifang have swooped in and Rondon is close to agreeing on personal terms.

In a separate tweet, EXWHUEmployee offered a morsel of hope for the Hammers in their Rondon pursuit. He said: “I guess it’s up to the club to decide how much they really want him in the next few days. Match the release clause and hope he will want to join us or just sit back and let him go elsewhere.

Rondon scored 12 goals for Newcastle last season so he is proven in the Premier League. If West Ham are serious about the 29-year-old, they need to act quickly, trigger his release clause and get this deal over the line before Dalian Yifang win the race.
