Reliable insider EXWHUEmployee has named Gary Medel and Victor Camarasa as West Ham’s two central midfield targets this summer.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Tuesday 2nd April), EXWHUEmployee told listeners that the Hammers were interested in the midfield pair.

Central midfield is a department which needs urgent attention in the summer. The Hammers could sign one or two new players to improve their ranks.

Declan Rice’s position is unquestionable but Pedro Obiang, Mark Noble and Carlos Sanchez are players who could be upgraded on. Manuel Pellegrini clearly feels that Medel and Camarasa can improve his current options.

Besiktas midfielder Medel was a target for West Ham in the January window (Sky Sports News) but this move failed to materialise.

The Chile international is keen to team up with fellow countryman Pellegrini at West Ham. And Turkish media outlet Duhuliye reports that the Hammers have already agreed a deal for him.

Medel’s previous season in the Premier League ended in relegation, while with Cardiff City. The 31-year-old is known for his tenacious tackling and he can also fill in at right-back or centre-back.

Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa recently scored against West Ham and could be an option for the Hammers.

The 24-year-old has been impressive for the Bluebirds despite their relegation struggles, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Currently on loan from Real Betis, the Spaniard could be set for a permanent move to the Premier League with West Ham.
